Taking a well-deserved break from the daily grind to reflect achievements, acknowledge milestones and set new goals was the mission of MEI’s year-end company meeting and holiday celebration. The entire team recently gathered in sunny Orlando, Florida, to celebrate its successes in 2011 and to build momentum for the year to come.

There is value to celebrating success in the workplace.  Similar to personal triumphs, professional accomplishments are more memorable when they are marked with a festive social gathering. Teams and organizations that focus on and applaud success ultimately forge camaraderie and create future success. Plus, setting aside time to revel great strides can spark new creativity and rejuvenate the company.

The MEI celebration began with a full day of informative and very lively presentations from various departments throughout the organization. From sales to operations, each team shared overarching improvements and highlighted achievements that helped to make 2011 such a milestone year.  Throughout the meeting, Oscar-worthy video clips added many humorous moments showcasing the company’s team-oriented culture and competitive devotion to playing Pac-Man.

The year-end meeting also included the 3^rd Annual MEI Performance Recognition Awards. Determined solely by peer votes, employees were nominated and recognized in several categories highly valued by MEI. The award for Best Customer Service was given to Pam Kiess while Yan Avery was honored with the Excellence Award and Andrew Helou collected the award for Best Attitude. There was a tie for the Teamwork Award which went to Elie El-Tawil and Francine Gallant. The Leadership Award also ended in a tie with Harry Ferrante and Rob Whynot both taking home the crystal statue.

With the business agenda complete, the MEI team went into full celebration mode with a party at the Hard Rock Café followed by libations and sing-along’s at the Rising Star karaoke club. The team spent the following day at Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure, a spectacular theme park offering state-of-the-art attractions, exciting water rides and pulse-pounding roller coasters.

Hogwarts Castle

Upon arrival at the park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ was a must-see for many of the muggles from MEI.  Fans of the Harry Potter books and films toured the familiar passageways, classrooms and corridors of Hogwarts™ castle, sampled Buttered Beer and rode the dueling dragon roller coaster.  The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman® was a cool, 4-D attraction also among the day’s highlights.  In Seuss Landing™ the wonderful stories of Dr. Seuss not only came to life, but were decked out with colorful tinsel and garland for the holidays.

Orlando was a thrilling adventure and a memorable teambuilding experience for MEI.  Celebrating success is important.  We are rejuvenated. We are motivated. We are ready to take our product and services to the next level in 2012. We are confident we will succeed and look forward to creating (and celebrating) joint successes with our clients in the coming year.
